اسلام آباد: الیکشن کمیشن نے سینیٹ کی قرارداد کی روشنی میں عام انتخابات ملتوی کرنے سے انکار کردیا۔

الیکشن کمیشن نے ملک میں 8 فروری کو شیڈولڈ انتخابات ملتوی کرانے سے متعلق سینیٹ کی منظور کردہ قرارداد پر سینیٹ سیکرٹریٹ کو مراسلہ بھیج دیا۔

الیکشن کمیشن نے مراسلے میں کہا ہے کہ آپ کی قرارداد کا جائزہ لیا، الیکشن کمیشن نے صدر مملکت کی مشاورت سے 8 فروری کو پولنگ کی تاریخ کا اعلان کیا

Islamabad: The Election Commission refused to postpone the general elections in light of the Senate resolution.

 The Election Commission sent a letter to the Senate Secretariat on the resolution approved by the Senate regarding the postponement of the scheduled elections on February 8 in the country.

 The Election Commission has said in the post that after reviewing your resolution, the Election Commission announced the polling date on February 8 in consultation with the President.

In the letter of the ELection Commission, it is further stated that instructions have been issued to the caretaker governments for law and order, the Supreme Court has expressed its determination that the elections will be held on February 8, while in the past general elections and local government elections were held in the winter.  Therefore, postponing the elections at this stage is not a proper advice and at this time general elections 2024 cannot be postponed.

 It should be noted that on January 5, Senator Dilawar Khan first presented the resolution to postpone the general elections in the Senate, which was approved by the majority vote of the House. At the time of approval of this resolution, 14 senators were present in the Senate.

 Apart from this, another resolution was submitted in the Senate to postpone the election scheduled for February 8, which was submitted by the independent senator from FATA, Hilalur Rehman.

لیکشن کمیشن کے مراسلے میں مزید کہا گیا ہےکہ امن و امان کے لیے نگران حکومتوں کو ہدایات8 جاری کی ہیں، سپریم کورٹ میں اس عزم کا اظہار کیا کہ 8 فروری کو انتخابات منعقد کروائیں گے جب کہ ماضی میں عام انتخابات اور مقامی حکومتوں کے انتخابات سردیوں میں ہوئے ہیں لہٰذا اس مرحلے پر الیکشن ملتوی کرنا مناسب مشورہ نہیں اور اس وقت عام انتخابات 2024 کو ملتوی نہیں کیا جاسکتا۔

واضح رہے کہ 5 جنوری کو سینیٹر دلاور خان نے سب سے پہلے عام انتخابات ملتوی کرانے کی قرارداد سینیٹ میں پیش کی تھی جسے ایوان نے کثرت رائے سے منظور کیا، اس قرارداد کی منظوری کے وقت سینیٹ میں 14 سینیٹرز موجود تھے۔

اس کے علاوہ سینیٹ میں 8 فروری کو شیڈول الیکشن ملتوی کرانے کے لیے ایک اور قرارداد جمع کرائی گئی جو فاٹا سے تعلق رکھنے والے آزاد سینیٹر ہلال الرحمان نے جمع کرائی
